Here is one thing donors can’t stand…

Most likely, the last two years have been tough on your #nonprofit organization. When we go through hard times, it is natural to want to talk about our experience. But here is the deal; the last two years have been rough on most of us. I might get some pushback on this, but another natural reaction is that when things have been rough for someone, they really don’t want to hear how it has been rough for you too.

Here are examples of some messages that nonprofits want to share with #donors:

  • Our budget has been hit hard.

  • We had to furlough staff.

  • Our events had to be canceled.

Donors don’t want to hear those messages. They get it. Here is what they want to know instead:

  • What are you doing with my money?

  • How are you helping those in need?

  • Here is how we adapted and overcame challenges we faced.

In our next Coffee and Conversation, we will dive deeper into how #fundraising events and donor expectations have changed.

Mark your calendar for 10am on May 25. Join us for a great conversation without even having to put on real pants!
