Thank you notes, we aren’t done yet…
Here are two more tips for the ultimate thank you. And believe me, the thank you is like really, really, important.
Tip 2: Don’t delay. No one wants to support a cause that only thanks them when it is asking for more. When requesting donations, make notes on what was requested and what it would support. You will also have information on your key donors from your big night. After your event, host a thank-you writing party within a week. Timely notes are sincere and ensure donors feel special while the event is still fresh in their minds.
Tip 3. Share the impact. Donors love to know what their donations went to, and it will make them feel connected to your cause. A simple “thank you for your generosity!” is not enough – let them know how it went to work! “Because of your donation, 20 community members were able to get eye exams and corrective lenses.” Tell your donors the impact of their gifts and they will want to give again and again.
Stay tuned for tips three and four!
